Reklamsamarbete mellan Latvia Tourism, Nordic TB och Storytravelers under kampanjnamnet #LatviaRoadTrip 19e maj, 2017 Riga, du bedårande stad, jag visste redan innan jag träffade dig att att du nog skulle bli en ny favorit. Så rätt jag hade. Vad är det med de östeuropeiska huvudstäderna? Något särskilt för de med sig trots att de ligger så nära. Första dagen på vår roadtrip tar jag och Helena en fotopromenad genom Riga för att upptäcka gatorna. Vi vandrar genom Rigas Central Market, matmarknaden, njuter av frukt och grönt, marknadsstånd och färgfullt liv. Första dagen på en ny destination är alltid första dagen, att andas frisk luft och upptäcka med nyvakna ögon. I Riga återupptäcker vi Lettlands färgprakt, dess tillmötesgående befolkning, goda mat och något nytt, trutar och tanter med tokig uppsyn. På kvällen möter vi de andra i teamet som vi snart ska ge oss ut på en fem dagars roadtrip tillsammans med, genom Lettlands norra delar, ut på landsbygd, längs med Lettlands karga kust och över lettiska dimhöljda vidder. Objektiven jag älskar att resa med

Såhär enkelt är det. En av de vanligaste frågorna jag får som fotograf är ”Vad ska jag köpa som nästa objektiv?”, ”Jag börjar kunna mitt kitobjektiv och vill gärna gå vidare.” Därför har jag sammanställt denna ödmjuka lista över vilka objektiv jag älskar att använda vid resor, mycket prylälskande och jag kommer inte hymla, mycket dyrt. Men eftersom jag även har en del billigare objektiv jag älskar, så finns det något för alla. Mina Sigmaobjektiv. Från vänster Sigma 20mm Art, Sigma 50mm Art och Sigma 70-200mm. Mina objektiv jag inte skulle kunna leva en dag utan Sigma 50mm Art, f/1.4  – Inköpt i Paris efter ett besök vid eiffeltornet är det mitt käraste objektiv som alltid levererar. Det objektiv jag har som är absolut skarpast som jag faktiskt använder till både landskap och porträtt. Det objektiv som jag nog aldrig kommer byta bort men som fått ligga på hyllan till följd av mitt secondhand fyndade 35mm som följer nedan. 3 tips på fotografer med härlig stil innehåller tips om tre fotografer att anlita för bröllop, porträtt m.m.  Förra året fotade jag tre bröllop innan jag gav upp och tog vinter- ledigt. En fantastisk profession det där bröllops- fotandet men just nu jag satsar på att utveckla Äntligen vilse och ta professionella skriv och fotouppdrag med temat resor som ni säkert märkt. Flertalet resor är planerande under våren, sommar och höst, kalendern är späckad med pärlor som Warszawa och Lettland men även en större roadtrip i de nordiska länderna med Helena och Sofia finns med på listan. Så galet spännande och mer om dem sen men nu, temat fotografer! Letar du fotograf? Letar du fotograf eller vill du bara vila ögonen på något vackert? Jag har fotat nästan varje dag i ca två år, plus ett år av taffliga försök att lära mig tekniken. En kärlek för manicker och komposition

Foton på mig av Helena Gunnare. Jag packar upp kartongen och känner pulsen öka till den grad att jag nästan hör mina egna hjärtslag. Den är tung och sval. Jag lyfter upp den för att kolla närmare, slår på den genom att låta on/off knappen glida ett steg åt höger och trycker den nära mitt ansikte. När jag pressar ned höger pekfinger försiktigt kan jag höra klicket. Känslan är obeskrivbar. Om du hade frågat mig för så sent som fem år sedan vad jag skulle höra med all min lediga tid så hade jag aldrig svarat ”fotograferat” och ännu mindre ”fotograferat ute i skogen”. Frågar du mig idag är det just det jag skulle svara. Även om all tid  spenderas med kameran i högsta hugg, så spenderas varje vaken timme med att fundera på hur jag kan utveckla min fotografering, vad som ger absolut skärpa, hur jag utvecklar min känsla för komposition och vad som får bilden mer tilltalande i redigeringsprocessen. En skogstjärn

I det lilla samhälle jag en gång växte upp i finns det fantastiska skogar. Djupa, mörka och murriga, riktiga trollskogar. Nu när jag inte längre har dem runt hörnet längtar jag dit, otroligt mycket.  Precis bakom mitt hus finns en riktigt trollskog, till och med skyltarna i skogen säger så. Inne i skogen ligger en liten skogstjärn vackert mellan träden. Under vinterledigheten tjatade jag på Martins tills vi tog en promenad runt tjärnen. En skogstjärn i en trollskog – Uvgölen Eftersom tjärnen inte frusit gick det dessvärre inte att gå ner hela vägen till kanten så vi stod och beundrade den på avstånd, Uvgölen. Stående här infinner sig lugnet. Det är sådär alldeles tyst som det bara är djupt inne i en småländsk skog. Snön ringlade ner mellan träden när vi fortsatte färden runt tjärnen. Martin lånade pappas snowjoggings och jag hade precis köpt nya vinterskor när vi gav oss ut. När vi kom hem, var vi sådär lagom frusna och blöta som jag bara brukade bli när jag var liten och byggde snökojor i slutet av gatan …

I have some issues with too strong sun. I admit it. Not everyone love backlight, or light at all. I prefer the soft morning or afternoon light and despise the middle of the day light. For photographic reasons of course. During the weekend my cousin was here visiting with his family and we took a walk from Gamla Stan to Sveavägen. To get there you  have to pass over a bridge and we walked along Vasabron. On Vasabron I shot this horrible shot of Norrbro, the bridge from the castle to the city centre. iso 100, f2.0, 1/1250 sek I´m not sure what I did, but I definitively didn´t get the settings right this time. The house walls are white, the water as well and the people is bathing in white white white. I didn´t think I was ever going to be able to do anything about this shot really. Preparing for an October wedding – a cow, a dog and some sand

This weekend I am shooting my second wedding for my carrier, in Örebro. During the day I was at Scandinavian photo and prepared for the weekend mission by buying a new battery for my camera, two new memory cards, a CF card of 64 gb and a SD card of 64 gb plus some batteries for my polaroid. The wallet said ”ouch” when paying but, ”because I am worth it”, as the Loreal commercial says. Last weekend (two weeks ago) I met up with my third wedding couple to prepare for an mid Ocotober wedding the 17th. I shot some of my favorite photos for the year, a cow, a dog and a lot of sand *grin*. This weeding will take place close to my hometown in Småland. Visit Fotografiska – a place for fun, a place for knowledge

Monday I visited Fotografiska for a second day in a row and decided to buy an one year membership at the museum. Is it weird to say you love a place and that you are going to visit every exhibition from now on when moving to Stockholm? Well, maybe it isn´t entirely true, but I most likely will visit a lot, maybe even take a photocourse on my spare time. I am looking at them now and I see that I have some blank spots of knowledge to fill that can be filled or at least partly filled with these courses. You can´t get to much knowledge right? Happily situated at Stadsgårdskajen close to Slussen (subway/metro) it is possible to visit Fotografiska everyday, all day, between the hours 09-23. Fotografiska is more a meeting place for photographers than a museum.  Göran Segeholm is one of the teachers here. The same guy that holds both Bildradion and Fotosidans pod-radios/casts. I must say that I love them and him as a telling voice, so I can understand why his courses is so …

A Bergslagen wedding – Linnea and Alexander

A spring wedding in Bergslagen Two weeks ago on the second of May a spring wedding took place in Bergslagen in the county of Örebro, the wedding between Linnea and Alexander, two active dancers from Nora. I met with Linnea and Alexander the first time in February, discussing the plans for their spring wedding. At that time, spring seemed far off talking about what to come, in the dark February evening. As a photographer a wedding is a big event, so big that a lot of photographers doesn´t even want to shoot it. A good thing then, I am brave. Well, the night before I must say I was a bit nervous and when thinking back as I told the couple when handing over their photos yesterday, ”I don´t remember a bit from the actual ceremony”. Maybe I was focused, maybe I was nervous, who knows. But I do remember the feeling, the atmosphere when the couple came out from the church, laughing, hugging their loved ones, dancing and the color of the cake. And that …

Today we prepare for tomorrow.

Sometimes it feels like you live your live thinking about what will come tomorrow instead of living today. Today have been such a day, but for a good reason. Tomorrow I am shooting a wedding and it will be my first, as half a professional. Don´t know what to call it when I am something inbetween. I am way to serious about my photography and my equipment to call myself a amateur in the long run but on the other hand I haven´t the longest experience, anyway, on instagram I call myself an aspiring photographer. That kind of fits, I think. I started the morning by cleaning my equipment, that was about time. I normally just dust the glass of but are far to neglecting with my displays on the camera as well as checking so nothing is broken or has a crack in it. Tomorrow is the big day, yes it is. Oh Norway, what a view! Cheesy, I know, but the above expression is an understatement of Norway and the image possibilities. Here comes the first photos from me and my mothers trip to Norway last weekend. It is an cavalcade of Oslo, Bergen and Lillehammer and of course, the roads and the views inbetween. Katarina (a bit of a lie, the first photo is from Töcksfors Sweden 😉 ) Shot with Canon 5D Mark iii, and Canon 24-105 mm f/4 lens, except for the night photo that was shot with Canon 40mm f/2.8 lens. Edited only in lightroom.

Vemödalen and the importance of being original

I learned a new word today. Vemödalen. You know it? I laughed hearing it since I have been working for a while on a post on questioning the necessity of taking photos of new objects and find that new angle, all the time. Before I learned the new word I couldn´t really put my finger on it but then I tripped over this word when listedning to a Swedish pod ”Fotosidans podradio” where they spoke about the phenomena, and it struck me, p e o p l e   a c t u a l l y  f e e l  t h i s  w a y. The word comes from a blog, The Dictionary of Obscure Sorrows (love the name by the way) who was inspired by the Swedish word vemod (melancholy), added dots over the o to make it more Swedish and added a Swedish IKEA furniture to the end to create it. Behind the scenes.

Did a small photojob the other day for the students on their preparations for an annual job-fair in Grythyttan. It was portrait photography. They created my own little photostudio for me… in the bathroom *grin*. Shot some behind the scenes photos of this event. Have been working late all week and gotten back from work around six or seven p.m so have been neglecting my spare time. I am editing some photos as we speak form this shot and soon of to the couch. Couch is my best friend after working late. Katarina And thanks for the fantastic flowers!

My photoproject about Bergslagen.

For you who remeber I started a photoproject in September 2014 about something. At the beginning I didn´t know what I was aiming to do but it later turned to be a project about Bergslagen. When I applied for what was also a course at the University I applied as a photoproject with the aim to go behind the cultural values of Bergslagen. I didn´t finish of course, but the course itself I finished this month and the following photos are my first from the project. I am thinking about building maybe a separate page here on the blog for the presentation of the project in the future but that is a later issue. At the moment or as long as I live still here in Grythyttan I´ll continue the project but on my own. I haven´t added any text but I have read poems in combination with looking on old photographs and other books from Bergslagen. Maybe I will add, maybe I won´t. Earlier me and Martin headed out for some photo- spotting. We went to for me a new area, Persberg. Now I am relaxing at home, watching some tv series and trying a new resizing app for the phone.
