Some random selfies I felt was great at the moment

Sorry, had to rewrite. The text disappeared when I published these photos from my phone 20 min ago. I just sait that when I was going through my phone I found these bad and more bad selfies I wanted to show you. Sometimes you just feel like sharing something private and something funny. So here they are, the selfies from august and september. Don´t have time to rewrite the text but I haven´t re- edited the photos. Some are no edit and some are edited. Like: What happend to the color of our faces? Did I think this was funny or what was I thinking at the moment? Martin and I, our photo for when looking for apartments. This was taken in Märsta. On the rooftop of Urban Deli?    ? ??   ???   Yeah, hope you enjoyed it and sorry about the disappearing text! Mobile-phone problems.. *sigh* Katarina

Preparing for an October wedding – a cow, a dog and some sand

This weekend I am shooting my second wedding for my carrier, in Örebro. During the day I was at Scandinavian photo and prepared for the weekend mission by buying a new battery for my camera, two new memory cards, a CF card of 64 gb and a SD card of 64 gb plus some batteries for my polaroid. The wallet said ”ouch” when paying but, ”because I am worth it”, as the Loreal commercial says. Last weekend (two weeks ago) I met up with my third wedding couple to prepare for an mid Ocotober wedding the 17th. I shot some of my favorite photos for the year, a cow, a dog and a lot of sand *grin*. This weeding will take place close to my hometown in Småland. The weather was so magnificent it fel like middle of summer. Katarina

The cost of backpacking by train in Europe

During the summer me and Martin backpacked for 3 weeks in Europe by train. We traveled 2 weeks by train and 1 week on boat. Before the trip we checked out Interrail as an alternative to get the lowest price for our travel but in the end decided to buy ticket by ticket. This is the cost: Interrail Price for interrail excluding booking/reservation fees, about 360 euro for Martin for 22 days (21 years of age) and 760 euro for me. 22 days total – 1120 euro 10 days within 22 days total – 281 euro + 588 euro : 869 euro Grythyttan to Copenhagen – Our first stretch was from Grythyttan to Copenhagen and within our home-country and therefor not included in the interrail ticket. These tickets costed us 1200 sek/ 127 euros for two and took us from Grythyttan to Örebro, from Örebro to Mjölby with Tåg i Bergslagen (Trains in Bergslagen) and then from Mjölby directly to Copenhagen with the Swedish high speed train SJ X2000. Some travel dreaming at TUR

Yesterday I visited TUR – mässan in Stockholm with Martin, Jeanette and her guy David. The TUR fair is a travel fair where travel companies, hotels, tourist boards come together and show what they have to offer to the traveler or travel interested. The day was spend hearing travel stories and doing the quiz ”Jorden Runt på 21 frågor”, a smart initiative from the TUR people since we had to visit almost all stands to be able to answer the 21 questions. Either way we did and now we are hoping to win a weekend in Warzaw or other nice prices on the list. The first travel story I attended was about Peru and I got to re-live photos from there. The second about Cuba and central america. The stories where told by two travel companies, which in away was a pity since it focused on their package trips to peru and central america, . I would have rather heard stories from actual travelers and see their experiences. But I guess that this is also …

Skåvsjöholm

Thursday and Friday last week I attended a two day conference in Skåvsjöholm with work. I shot some photos of my work colleagues, some selfies and a thousand of the atmosphere, which was fantastic. Skåvsjöholm is a conference hotel in Åkersberga, Stockholm. It is a privilege to get the opportunity to get some time just talking to the work collueges and reflecting about work. During the day it was all about work and during the evening we had dinner, a music quiz, took a bath in the outdoor hot tub and played pool. When work is tuff during fall I think about these two days. Katarina Shot with Canon 5D Mark iii, 40 mm pancake lens.

a feeling of Costa Brava cuisine on Nytorgsgatan 42

Just got back from a days of work and an evening spend listening to tourist info about the Costa Brava region. And what a evening then! I started the afternoon by heading for Rinkeby due to work. On the way home I got to see Hallonbergen. By now I feel pretty experienced in the Stockholm Subway.. or not. From work I headed straight to a travel event about Costa Brava, focused on networking and experiencing the food in the region. Costa Brava with Girona as main city has a lot to offer a tourist as beautiful nature and spectacular gastronomy. During the evening I got to try out some of this cusine with the chef Marc Gascons in place to serve the guests a seven corse or more tasting menu with pine nut soup, shrimp tartar, fish with tomato and almond sauce, sea urchin, some meat dishes (I didn´t taste), gin and tonic desert, sorbet and chocolate mousse with virgin olive oil. Oh so yummy! Looking forward to visiting this region in the future. It has much …

having wine with the girls – stockholm travel massive at sheraton

Just got back from an after work with Stockholm Travel Massive, this time at Sheraton hotel in Stockholm. The event, as all the other times, was arranged by Lola, Annika and Sofia, three girls that I now consider my friends. They arranged the event in collaboration with Travellink. This evenings event was held at Sherton in Stockholm. I have been in Stockholm for two months and feel to lucky that I don´t have to plan and use my vacation days to be able to participate. I got back from work, we have been at a two days conference in Skåvsjöholm with my job and I headed straight to travel massive. I shot the compulsory shot of the girls and talked crap with people in the travel business and travel bloggers. Two guys from SJ popped by, by mistake and we tried wine and had swiss cheese. A good Friday evening. Now back in the couch and aiming to have some quality alone time before Martin gets back.. Until next time girls. Katarina Shot with Canon 5D …

All the food I could eat during my summer and travels

Started going through my photos for the summer and came to find that I have taken a lot of food photos during the summer. It is amazing how much in life that revolves around what we eat. Martins exam in Grythyttan, rye bread, brie cheese, salmon and champagne During Martins exam in June rye bread, brie cheese, salmon and what I think was pannacotta was served. I was full all day and the only thing everybody spoke about was the good bread. During the evening we had a barbecue and all day to much champagne. Backpacking Europe in June Copenhagen and indian food After the exam we headed out for our three weeks of backpacking. First stop was Copenhagen for 3 hours and an Indian restaurant called Kashmir that had this amazing ice cream and fab nan bread. We walked through the city going home, passing the castle and garden. Photos of bread and stew shot by Martin and edited by me. A hamburger in Hamburg Continuing we went to Hamburg and having a Hamburger in …

scouting spots for wedding photography in Örebro

Camera *check*, extra battery *check*, Sigma lens *check*. After packing carefully I head out to my car. Fear rises when I get out on the bigger roads in Stockholm. Will there be a lot of cars, maybe even a que? But today I am lucky and it is only me and a few cars on the road giving me a free lane. I drive slowly and are soon on my way. The day has been spend checking spots for an upcoming wedding in Örebro the 3rd of October. I have been longing to shoot a wedding ever since I was on Iceland so this was a happy day! A church, a bridge and a castle later I head home to my cosy apartment that I have grown fond of and edit some photos before Martin gets back. After 20 minutes he calls ”I am on my way home” and I feel even more happy. Sundays are the best days! Both getting the possibility to shoot some photos and now the rest of the evening will be …

my top 3 romantic travel destinations

What we believe to be romantic is individual. For one person a romantic setting or destination could be the white beaches in Asia, flowers and gold and for another it is the backyard of his or hers summer cabin. We all though share the capability to inspire each other and share our own favourite places is one way to share inspiration. In this post you will tag along to my top 3 (and a newcomer in the end) romantic travel destinations, to inspire you to go see them and see if you share my fascination for these places. Iceland The dramatic landscape of Iceland must be the most dark and romantic setting I have ever encountered. This is my most recent destination and I will never forget the magic black sand of the lava beaches, the perfect setting for wedding photography. Anyone who wants to go and get married there? It is so magnificent that it is worth all the extra penny´s it will draw from your wedding budget. I guess that this is also the only minus …

my first red carpet event

Tuesday I headed home around 15 o ´clock to attend a evening mingle event that my friend Helena was invited to. I was her plus one. We met up at t-centralen and had a short break at my place, changing clothes before heading to Strandvägen for some sort of a mingle event. Without knowing how nice an event it was gonna be I remember saying to Helena before ”Are you sure we should attend this, isn´t this some sort of extravaganza event”. Well, nice is always better we concluded and went, getting a small chock when seeing the red carpet rolled out on the street when arriving. Welcomed we had a nice evening with champagne and small dishes with cod, shrimps, salad, chick-peas and more. Christian (matochresebloggen.se) arrived a little later and we laughed and talked about the possibility of winning one of those trips that they gave away during the evening. I am still a bit confused on what I was doing there. The evening was hosted by La Mamounia in Marrakech, a luxury …

the passport.

In times like this I find it hard to write about some specific things. The passport or as in Swedish short ”pass” is one of them, due to the meaning of the word, ”to pass”, something some are aloud to and others are not. Being a Swede, you can consider yourself lucky, at least when passing customs around the world. Even though I had some minor misshappenings as triggering an alarm of some sort in USA and taken in random controls I have never experienced any real trouble or even been stopped and not aloud to pass. I am always careful with my passport and keep it in one specific pocket of my bag when traveling so I won´t misplace it. Even though I am careful it is always a constant fear lurking that I will loose it or even worse, break it. It is connected to the lurking feeling that one of those days I will be stranded and will there be anyone there to help me. Nowadays I keep my passport in a …

Let me introduce you to my new neighbourhood

When you think you are gonna end up in the periphery you won´t be disappointed when ending up closer to the city core. But when taking a walk and having this view, and still living in a city, you feel pretty amazed. Let me introduce you to my new neighbourhood. Charter

I am participatig in a three weeks challenge about travel. The soul purpose is to give some inspiration for future trips and to give the possibility to you readers to dream a little. The other two post from Saturday and Sunday is also part of this, My best travel memory and Transport. This challenge will continue between the 5th and the 25th of September and featured different themes along the way. Today the theme is charter. Themes are both easy to write about and not and even more difficult is it to find a photo to match with the theme. The theme charter is specifically a bit difficult since I haven´t gone on a charter- trip for some time now and couldn´t therefor possibly have anything to say about it, could I? When traveling with charter there are both positive and negative sides, the obvious of course being that traveling with charter limits you a lot to the times of flight and specific hotels and but on the other hand give you the pleasure of …

Transport

I love trains. I have written about my love of trains so many times now, so you who follow me knows this. Thinking about traveling and planing a trip the means of transportation is the first thing you start planing, nowadays mainly booking the flight. But there is so many means of transportation. So participating in the September challenge with Svenska Resebloggar and the theme transport, I dug up some old photos of vehicles I have came across when out and about. I am amazed on how many I found. A rusty car in the car cemetary of Töcksfors A cableway in Bergen A boat house Hammarby Sjöstad, Stockholm A yellow tube in Berlin Bikes in front of East Side Gallery Berlin And a lot of bikes in front of the train station in Copenhagen Trains in Europe Gondols in the channels of Venice Boat – taxi in Venice Luxury cruiser in the Mediterranean A moto taxi in Lima, Peru A segway cop/guard in Lima, Peru A small plane by the nazca lines in Peru A boat …

My best travel memory

There is so much to say about traveling but it is hard to pinpoint the one thing that is the very best memory of them all, so far then I mean. My first spontaneous though was the beach in Portugal on the coast of Algarve when I was 8 years old, traveling abroad the first time (that I remember). I had this yellow bathing suit in some form of expendable material and when talking with my friends when I got older they said that they still remember the suntan I got from this bathing suit. This and a purple I had later. I guess that it is hard to compete with memories from being a child, you always have stronger feelings/ and appreciate things more, don´t you? Just to remember the sand between my toes and the waves from the Atlantic ocean is great. I know now that when I revisit I don´t feel the same. Now my reactions towards the Atlantic is ”God damn this is cold”. Considering a more recent travel memory that I …
