Food- Picante de Huevos

Made some Picante de huevos today. This simple recipe is my favorite of the week and I want to share it with you. Today I used: Sourdough bread, eggs, sugarsnaps, cream, salt, chili, garlic and oil The recipe for the hot eggs comes from my boyfriends aunt Elia in Peru, she used to do it for us when we where there but then it was different and tasted different due to the the fact that they have other ingredients in Peru. This is how you do it: 1. Heat a pan and pour some oil in it 2. Add chili and garlic (we use some dried chili Martin prepared) and fry it 3. Whip up some eggs with some cream (or milk, water) and some salt 4. Put in the pan together with the spices 5. Fry and stir at the same time. Don´t fry more than about a minute tops 6. Put on plate and fry the sour dough bread and the sugarsnaps in the same oil for a couple of minutes, until the …

Meeting another blogger- at lillatildeshem

When in Borgå/Porvoo, one of the evenings where spend, for me and a little group, at a local bloggers house where she prepared dinner for us. She had such an amazing house that I could probably have spend hours and hours photographing it but here are at least some pics. The Menu as follows on the first photo: Starters, Fish from Pellinge; cold smoked salmon, raw spiced fish and smoked trout with caviar. Main course; Fishburgers Dessert: Blueberry pie with ice cream. The food was served on fantastic Arabia china, probably my favorite detail from the entire dinner. Love my Arabia. In the blogpost ”Middag” on the blog lillatildelshem.blogspot.se you can find the fantastic recipes from the dinner. Maybe Sofia (the blogger) should have a regular ”hemma hos” or ”dine with” event for travelers interested in the local cuisine. Who wouldn´t choose that over a local restaurant?! 😉 Katarina

kimchi- a bad smelling, heavenly tasting, Korean coleslaw

Our fridge smells like a bad nightmare. The reason is Martins making of (korean I think ) kimchi. A while ago our friends from Stockholm (if you remember) Carro and Marcus came and visited us. The same day Martin tried out a new recipe of the Korean kimchi. A salad, leavened and spiced, left out for a day and in the fridge for about a week later enjoyed mushy and tasty. I love Martins cooking and normally I would have though that this was a good idea, but, well, after a week the fridge in August, the fridge started smelling a lot. And I mean a lot! Last weekend when in Gothenburg we enjoyed real kimchi on a asian restaurant in Nordstan and that was very pleasent. The home made, not so much, but as the recipe from Ica says ”Do not despair if your first attempt making your own Korean kimchi are not perfect. If it smells and looks good, you can always use it in cooking.” Making your own Asian food when educated …

Way Out West- A city festival with all veggie food.

Just gotten back to the hotel. Martin has already fallen asleep and it is only me up, editing photos. But now I am off to bed, exhausted. Enjoy the photos from the first day of the Way Out West festival in Gothenburg that is taken place between the 7-9 August, an all city festival where some of the concerts actually take place in different clubs around the city. The festival has all vegetarian food (Martin is mildly irritated, but I´m happy) and focuses on the environment. Today I tried out the vegetarian Meze plate. Yummie. Nighty night. some sheep and some food.

Had a very nice weekend with my friends from Stockholm. They have left for now and so has the sun. Thunder rumbles outside and I am watching my favorite show (at the moment), White Collar and thinking about making some waffles with cloudberry jam and cream. No beach 2014 for me. 😉 Enjoy the last photos from the weekend. Katarina Canon 5D Mark iii, 24-105 mm Canon lens, Lightroom.

A moment of peace- Bergslagen, Grythyttan and Bredsjö blå.

My friend Caroline and her mate Marcus is here during the weekend. We are enjoying the fabulous Swedish summer weather and Bergslagen from it´s best side. In a way, at the moment, I´m traveling the backyard of where I live. Sometimes this is the best. Canon 5D Mark iii, 24-105 mm Canon lens as well as 50mm lens from Canon, edited in Lightroom. When Marcus and Caroline arrived we prepared some hard bread with Bredsjö blå and hjortronsylt (cloudberry jam). We enjoyed it with a bottle of wine and some more.. Martin prepared a secret jar that will be ready in a week. Me and Caroline posed for a full shot photo. Her wearing a desigual and me in my kaftan from Röda korset and my Moheda wooden shoes. Martin guided us through Måltidens house in Grythyttan. Where he showed us a kitchen that comes up from the floor (and got stuck on the way down, creating a bit of stress .. ). He continued with Grythyttans Gästgiveri and their Magnificent wine cellar. And Stallet …

The chili plants are growing- What will become of them?

After getting back from Peru Martin planted som chili seeds. Pic 1-2 Around day one. The chili plants grew kind of fast. Pic 3-10 When the plants growing I went to Gotland and celebrated midsummer but also attended a festival (Hayride). And when getting home, the plants had grown (pic 11-12). Martin has now replanted the plants and thrown out most of the plants, giving room for only one plant / pot. That was my short update about Martins chili plants. Now I am off to a barbecue in the hot Swedish summer weather. Katarina

Some cooking and a trip to Mårbacka, the home of Selma Lagerlöf.

Have been a bit absent due to a severe cold and that I now been traveling from my old hometown in Småland to Grythyttan, where I now live. It is not so far (about 270 km) but it takes basically a day traveling due to practical stuff as eating and running som errands on the way. The loooong picture stream of today features both Sunday evening, Monday and today and covers three counties in Sweden- Småland, Västmanland and Värmland. In the latter the home of the very famous, even on an international scale, author Selma Lagerlöf where me and my mother went on a guided tour in her old home. She was very popular and even when she was living tourist came in masses to see her home and it is said that she used to wave to them from the balcony. It is interesting since she died 1940. Afterward we had burgers at Diner 45, a 50´s American burger place on the E45 on the way to Torsby from Sunne and later on went …

10 things to do in Lima- Post 3- Ceviche

The Ceviche will probably take my life. It is Lemon/Lime and Chili (Rocoto) madness, all the ingredients for something superb. Just look at it. Well back to business, the Times list recommend La Mar, the Astrid u Gaston restaurant for Ceviche where we already went and where the above pic is from. Here it is also possible to by a book or two about the Peruvian cuisine or Ceviche. Ceviche is 8th on the Time- list and you can read about it here. The funny thing about the photo they use is that I have been in Lima for almost two months now and NEVER seen Ceviche that look like that. I might ask someone where to find it. I really wan´t to know where they found this Ceviche. 1. Cebichería La Mar Av. La Mar 770, Miraflores, Lima, Peru; 51-(0)1-421-3365 lamarcebicheria.com borrowed from the Times list. But what is so special about Ceviche anyway? Why does it deserve a fancy prancy name like Ceviche? History The history of Ceviche tells me that it is a fishcourse, yeah well, obviously …

The restaurant La Mar

Yesterday we wen´t to the restaurant La Mar in Miraflores (another of Gastons restaurants) with Martin chef friends Ruben, José Luis and Monica. Fabulous food. Amazing. The best. And that is an understatement. I also bought a book, one of Gastons book about streetfood in Peru, aka the normal food. Afterwards we walked around in China Town, another part of Lima and yet again I will let the photos speak for themselves. Katarina Taken with the Canon 5D, ed in Lightroom.

English translation – Tommy turned 30 a while ago and Saturday, two days ago, he held his party in connection with going away party for all second year students in Grythyttan that soon escapes to workpractice in all possible places in the world. Martin and I will as most of you already know go to Peru where Martin will make his practice as …

Förberedelse inför Hantverksprovet i Patisserie

Bilder redigerade i Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5.

Katarina
