10 things to do in Lima – post 7- Larcomar

The seventh post in my series inspired by the Times list, 10 things to do in Lima, Larcomar.   First arriving in Larcomar you get fairly amazed. It is a bit special, this outdoor shopping area/ with a view over the ocean. Basic knowledge Situated in Miraflores on the Malecon, Larcomar is easily accessible. The area has restaurants like Tanta but also Pizza Hut or other fast food opportunities, even Peruvian fast food Ceviche as well as bowling, cinema and extensive shopping opportunities. It is fairly new and feels overall fresh. Me and Martin tried both the fast food and the Tanta restaurant and I really agree with the Tanta concept, which is one of Gastons concepts of Peruivian and western fusion. Shopping Larcomar has a big variety of shopping, though very much American or non Peruvian brands. Some years ago (the year 2010) I went to Sicily with my friend Caroline who was visiting me this weekend. Sicily then become one of my favorite places and I wanted to share where I went with you, even if it was some time ago. What I remember especially about Sicilly was the fact that they didn´t let me in in one of the churches since I had to short shorts. (haha) Yeah, that was it for me and religion. We didn´t suit eachother before, but then I did really understand why religion never could be anything for me. 10 things to do in Lima- post 6- Government Palace and Plaza de Armas

Continuing my series about Lima with the Government Palace and Plaza de Armas in a 6th post about the Times List of 10 things to do in Lima. In a way, it feels like I´m rewriting my post about the Church of San Fransisco since they are pretty close by but this is another place.   Plaza de Armas, where the government palace also is  situated holds many treasures. I never visited the inside of the government palace, and as said by the Times article, it is restricted and only for special tours, what now that means. This is a bit boring and a minus for the overall experience of the place. A place I visited more than once on the other hand was the Artesania shops (crafts). But for some basic knowledge. The old mine Stripa in Bergslagen – Sweden

In the Instagram Travel Thursday post this week I wrote a question in the end of where to go for a short trip within 300 km from Bergslagen if me and boyf. wanted to go somewhere during this weekend. I think I got only one suggestion, and that is probably just because this guy is from the area and know what is within 300km from Bergslagen. Thanks to Replicant Core for suggesting Visingsö even if we ended up somewhere else.. Rep. Core is a blogger that lives in Örebro and comment frequently on my photos. Where did we end up then? The old mine of Stripa, Stripa gruva, is a mine in Bergslagen close to Lindesberg. It is really well preserved and a dream for photographers that loves history, rusty stuff and buildings. So Rep. 10 things to do in Lima- Post 5- Parque de la Reserva – the water park.

Number 10 on the times list and post 5- The Magic Water Circuit or Parque de la Reserva in Lima. From times article- ”The Magic Water Circuit (Circuito Mágico del Agua) is the city’s newest attraction, and locals and tourists agree it’s surprisingly awesome. Check it out for yourself.” 1. Opening hours: The fountains are open Wednesday through Sunday, from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. The park is a huge garden with fountains, train, a tunnel, art exhibitions and so forth. It is situated in downtown Lima, close to the tourism quarters. To get here you can walk, take the bus (the Metropolitano and jump of by the Estadio Nacional, the football stadium). 10 things to do in Lima- Post 4- Church of San Fransisco

Better late than never. The third on Times list and forth on mine, is the church of San Fransisco. Of course I visited the San Fransisco church when I was in Lima for three months. A colonial church of great magnitude which I gladely visit again if I ever return, which I will, or hope I will. The church is very close to Plaza de armas, maybe 2 minutes walk. As the text on Time, 10 things to do in Lima tells us about the church, ”Most people go to San Francisco, however, for its catacombs”, as did I. ”Tour guides say an estimated 75,000 bodies are buried under San Francisco alone, and many of the remains are exposed, stacked in strange patterns in circular stone pits. A catacomb tour is not for the squeamish or the claustrophobic.” says Time. Peru: Go to Huacca China- a oasis outside Ica

It is amazing! As one part of last weekend when we traveled we wen´t to Huacca China, a backpackers paradise next to Ica. I might have told you before that I love the desert, but I love love love, the desert. It is so distant from what I am used to. Okay, I acknowledge that the sand itself is a bit tricky to like. It is everywhere, and I mean everywhere. It almost got into my Canon 5D as well after Martin carried the camera to the top of one of the sand dunes. Due to it is a travel paradise, you can get american or continental breakfast, which feels like a gift send from above when eating food you are not used to for over two months. Sometimes you miss the simple, and it is often the food. A critique not to Huacca China people but the people who travel there. Don´t throw trash in the sand dunes, bring it with you down for god´s sake. Pollution is already a problem and trash looks so awful. …

10 things to do in Lima- Post 3- Ceviche

The Ceviche will probably take my life. It is Lemon/Lime and Chili (Rocoto) madness, all the ingredients for something superb. Just look at it. Well back to business, the Times list recommend La Mar, the Astrid u Gaston restaurant for Ceviche where we already went and where the above pic is from. Here it is also possible to by a book or two about the Peruvian cuisine or Ceviche. Ceviche is 8th on the Time- list and you can read about it here. The funny thing about the photo they use is that I have been in Lima for almost two months now and NEVER seen Ceviche that look like that. I might ask someone where to find it. 10 things to do in Lima- Post 2- El Malecón, Miraflores

As you who follow me know, I have hanged around quite a bit in Miraflores and you may have also seen a lot of photos of a beach from up above and fantastic views over the city. This is basically what El Malecón is. A giant photo-opportunity. Basic knowledge It is a 6 mile stretch of green spaces, gardens and parks, where the best thing you can do is kiss your partner in the Parque de la Amor and watch the fantastic view. The Time list of course suggest other stuff to do as jogging, nothing I would ever do even if they payed me. A good idea that Time do point out is the possibility to rent a bike for a day. Something I haven´t done, but something smart since the stretch is so long. Those akin legs of a traveler needs som rest to. If you are not so in to bikes, maybe you like skating? 1. Before going out this Monday me and Martin wanted to do some touristy stuff. Thats when we googled the amazing words ”10 things to do in Lima”. We ended up with the Time list where Time listed this exactly.  The list  is found here. I have been in Lima for a while and decided after reading it, to write a post about what to do, since the different stuff listed by time, isn´t all that hot. Have they even been here or have they just googled and put a list together, I ask myself.
