Shoot better travel photographs – Mix color and black & white- the story about Paris

Who besides me love black and white photography?  I think it is something special with black and white photos and fill my Instagram account with them as well as the blog. Today we use photoshop to get photos black and white, something we before used film for. Today we have the possibility to cover the entire story when shooting, not just take one photo of the eiffeltower and leave out the rest of the city, when in Paris. We are either aware of what we are doing or we just do it, but normally we use technique that is called storytelling when putting our images together. A lot of us use it and tell the entire story of a travel destination without text, like a well filled photoalbum in one post. I like to do this all the time, I can add 40 photos from one day in one post here at the blog. To keep the story entertaining I like to mix color and black and white photos. Especially portraits do well in black …

Shoot better travel photographs- editing with your iPhone – the apps

This post is a indept on editing tools when abroad- for my overall guide check out ”Shoot better travel photographs” which have short tips for editing in the end. I think we can agree that when abroad we are fighting the clock and don´t have much time during the day to edit so we have to take shortcuts to be able to enjoy our stay as much as possible even though we like to update our social media forums on a regular basis. I spend as much time editing my photos abroad as other do reading the newspaper. I do it when I am back at the hotel, when others sleep. Since I am as tired as my traveling partners the editing can only take around 10 minutes tops. When abroad I bring my computer, which make editing quick and easy. I import the photos into folders and then into Lightroom. Next step is to develop one photo and copy the same settings to the rest and then export the photos and upload them to my …

Shoot better travel photographs – early morning shooting

See my first guide ”Shoot better travel photographs” for the basics of both shooting photos and shooting better travel photographs, including basic tips, preparing going out shooting, settings and for editing when abroad. This post is a continuation of that post and won´t go into basics. When in Borgå, me and Konsta Punkka, an amazing 20 year old photographer went out taking photos. It was his travel concept, when going abroad, he is an early bird, getting out of bed before the sun rises to get the most amazing shots. When 5-6 o´clock early morning Why There are several advantages of getting up early. – The early morning light is surely the best light, I think you agree, especially in combination with fog and long shutterspeed. But there are also other advantages, – as in cities: no traffic at five o´clock in the morning – some animals are early morning persons as well so you probably get more lucky catching them on camera. – you get a head. If you shoot from 5 o´clock until aroun …

Shoot better travel photographs.

For a long time I have been wanting to write something about photos. My Canon 5D Mark iii is my life, as you may know and I rarely write a post on the blog where I don´t add some photos relevant to what I am writing about. I´ve been in Peru for a while and reflected a lot on how to shoot better travel pics and wan´t to share my finds in an easy and understandable guide. Lets call it Shoot better travel photographs. It is of course useable for other stuff as well. Since this is a guide on how to shot better photographs, I assume that you already know your manual settings on your camera and where to find them, since i only know Canon models I won´t be to much help on where to find the different settings in your camera. If this becomes a problem in this guide, look at this ground course on aperture (bländare), shutterspead (slutartid), ISO-value and white balance (vit balans). Or just Google. There are thousands of …
