6 timmar i Nice

my top 3 romantic travel destinations

What we believe to be romantic is individual. For one person a romantic setting or destination could be the white beaches in Asia, flowers and gold and for another it is the backyard of his or hers summer cabin. We all though share the capability to inspire each other and share our own favourite places is one way to share inspiration. In this post you will tag along to my top 3 (and a newcomer in the end) romantic travel destinations, to inspire you to go see them and see if you share my fascination for these places. Iceland The dramatic landscape of Iceland must be the most dark and romantic setting I have ever encountered. This is my most recent destination and I will never forget the magic black sand of the lava beaches, the perfect setting for wedding photography. Anyone who wants to go and get married there? It is so magnificent that it is worth all the extra penny´s it will draw from your wedding budget. I guess that this is also the only minus …

My photoguide to Paris

I don´t have so much to say about Paris due to the fact that I´ve only been there for 7 days in my life, but since I took a lot of photos during my travel I also reflected upon great and not so great photoplaces. Here is a list. Top 1. The Eiffeltower My mother and I went there twice. The tower is probably my favorite place and a the best photoplace for me. If ever back in Paris I will go back. The tower turns golden in the sun and leans like the Leaning Tower of Pisa with my Canon 24-105 mm wide-angle lens. The park by the Louvre, Tuileries Garden Fantastic light and isles with white sand makes the photos great. The park is big so even if the park is filled with a lot of people it is possible to find a spot to take a shot or two by yourselves. The park has green chairs to use as well and in October, not so many people visits the park so you will …

My outfits in Paris.

Since Paris is the fashion capital of magnitude I think it is a good idea to show the outfits I was wearing in France just for fun. Outfit day one   Outfit day two     Outfit day 3   Outfit day four   Outfit day 5   And some others..   Photos by my Canon 5D Mark iii. 24-105 mm Canon lens as well as my Sigma 50mm Art lens. Edited in Lightroom. More written about Paris on my behalf- My photoguide to Paris, Hotel Eldorado- Paris and The cemetaries of Paris.

Hotel Eldorado – Paris

When booking our stay we checked out more than one alternative. Our choice fell on Hotel Eldorado on the street Rue de Dames due to the easy reason that it was chic and less expensive then hotels in the city center. My mother found this hotel on the blog granntanter.se, whom we also where traveling with for three of our six days stay.   Location 18 Rue de Dames 750 17 Paris Homepage Within walking distance from the subway/bus/square Place de Clichy How We booked our stay through the site booking.com. It is probably possible just calling the hotel and book. The receptionists speak English (at least all we met during our six nights stay). Appearence/ service The hotel deserves the word pitoresque cause that is what it is. I have never seen anything more French/ Moulin Rouche without bad lighting/ Montmartre – feeling in my life. It is a variety of asian/african and french stuff. The reception seen in the picture, held fresh flowers, a brown reception desk as well as a BIG old …

The cemetaries of Paris

It feels a bit odd, walking into a cemetery in France, as a tourist taking photos. But figured after being in both Sacre Couer as well as Notre Dame, if the church can take advantage of tourist than it is okay to take photos in both churches and in peaceful places as cemetaries. Come to think about it, if it was me lying there I would be glad if someone took photos of my gravestone. I love churches, but after visiting two cemeteries in Paris I think I have to extend the concept to including cemeteries as well. What a peaceful and lovely place, at some points messy, but mostly just a gorgeous mess of leaves and old gravestones, some taken care of and some don´t. Cimitiere de Montmartre When in Montmartre we visited the graveyard there. It is the third biggest in Paris after the Pére Lachaise and Montparnasse cemetaries.   Checking up some info it tells me that it dates back early 19th century (1825 to be exact) and is an old abondend …

Montmartre

Ever seen the film Amelie from Montemarte? Now is the time. Though there where no Amelie, me and my mother managed to see and purchase a knitted garment from Montemarte, so everytime I´ll see it from now and on, I will think of it as the ”Knitted garment from Montemarte”. I´ve heard that Montemarte is cosy and ”French”, but we headed for Montemarte to see the church Sacre Coeur, one of the top ten turist attractions in Paris. On the way, we passed the Cementiere de Montemarte, the graveyard of Montemarte. How to get to Montemarte During out stay we have been at the Hotel Eldorade on the street Rue de Dames, from Rue de Dames we walked down do Place de Clichy (this is a square that have both metro and bus) and just up the hill/street from there. There is signs, saying Sacre Couer all over the place. They are just a bit hard to find sometimes so asking is preferable instead of walking in the wrong direction as my mother and I …

Fleemarket at Porte des Vanves

And the last day with granntanter, Camilla Thulin and Karina Ericsson Wärn, arrived. We met outside the Odeon theatre, which we did all three days. Together we took the bus to Porte des Vanves where we where to attend a fleemarket. The fleemarket had many things of medium to high quality. Mostly high quality prices though. I managed to make find that I am particularly proud of and it was a photography of Birgite Bardot, holding a rabit next to a car, by Patrica Bertrand. Among the pictures isn´t the photo thought but a photo of the photographer himself. I tried speaking to him with some basic basic English. He spoke a word or two and I managed to find out that he used to be a photographer in th 60´s and 70´s, nowadays he just used the iphone he said. He had amazing photographs of celebrities, photo which I think was taken in connection to different film- location at the time he was active. The market held some treasures for others as well, and …

Luxury – vintage clothing and fabulous food in Paris

Today I have prepared a massive photopost for you. Today was our second day on the trip and we had som much fun. We went food- shopping, luxury shopping, to a monestery, had Asian food, walked the gallery distrivs, continued shopping (looking for vintage shopping) and so forth. The day had its highlights and must point out the hat the Karina Ericsson Wärn bought as one of the highlights, as well as when Ingmar tried out vintage underwear at a vintage market. We also made a quick stop at Hermes, where I found my new future to by all stuff with pattern, Equator (in French). The new Hermes butique lies in an old bathing house in Paris. In Le Bon Marche, a shopping center, I bought some Dior make-up and got beutiful bags to carry it in. Did a quick selfie in the bathroom of Le Bon Marche, as well as group selfies in Hermes and other vintage store. Enjoy the photos! Katarina Shot with Canon 5D Mark iii, 24-105 mm Canon lens. La vie en rose

I never thought the famous song by Edit Piaff was named ”Life in pink”. Not sure if Paris is so pink but here are my first ”photo-day” of my stay in Paris. It is the Louvre, Champs Elysees, Arc de Triomphe and the dashing Eiffel tower. Will get back with text when I get my energy back. Now it is off to bed. Katarina Photos of me by my mother, the rest is of course mine. Shot with my Canon 5D Mark iii and my Canon lens 24-105 + my new! Sigma 50 mm Art lens.

Traveling to Paris, with granntanter.se

Have to tell you about something very exiting! Yes, hold on.. I am traveling to Paris in October! I bought the trip for me and my mother this autumn due to our 30 and 60th birthday this year. Paris have always been a dream travel destination of mine and I picture Paris, a little like Grythyttan but in bigger format with vintage editing in natural sense. Like a brown/grayish romantic filter with roses and nostalgia all over. Even if I know that I am going to find something else, this is how I picture it. Im so exited. First Way out West (A Swedish music festival), then Finland with #travelhouseporvoo and then Paris with mum! What a travel-year to come. And like this isn´t enough. We are traveling with granntanter.se, two Swedish authors that run a blog and travel with their readers. Camilla Thulin and Karina Ericsson-Wärn. Check in their blog and tag along if their is any available spots for you. Katarina Canon 5D Mark iii, 50 mm Canon lens f1,8. Photos is of …
